ADB ready to expand financing for Armenia’s private sector – bank president

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Wednesday a delegation headed by Takehiko Nakao, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

YEREVAN, June 13. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Wednesday a delegation headed by Takehiko Nakao, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to the Armenian government’s press office, the premier, stressing the importance of partnership with the ADB, said that many large programs also with attraction of the private sector to them.
Pashinyan said that the Armenian government is interested in consistent development pf relations with the Asian Development Bank and expansion of financing of the country’s private sector.
Takehiko Nakao, on his side, said that effective cooperation is established in some areas. In his words, the ADB is ready to continue and expand support for the Armenian government’s initiatives.
He also said that the ADB is ready to provide more financial resources to Armenia’s private sector.
Importance of cooperation in development of infrastructures, agriculture, energy, information technology, tourism, healthcare, education and other areas was stressed in the meeting.
Pashinyan and Nakao also talked about the program of construction of North-South motor way.
The Asian Development Bank has been cooperating with Armenia since 2005.
As many as 28 loans totaling $1.37 billion and 27 grants amounting to $15.7 million have been approved since then. -0--
