Ameriabank and Ucom launch TV-banking service

The Yerevan-based Ameriabank and Ucom telecommunications company have unveiled today a new service - TV-banking. Ameriabank Retail Operations Director Arman Barseghyan said the new service can be used by customers to pay utility bills, receive helpful information about currency exchange rates and the location of the bank's branches and ATMs.
YEREVAN, February 23. /ARKA/. The Yerevan-based Ameriabank and Ucom telecommunications company have unveiled today a new service - TV-banking. Ameriabank Retail Operations Director Arman Barseghyan said the new service can be used by customers to pay utility bills, receive helpful information about currency exchange rates and the location of the bank's branches and ATMs.
Speaking at a news conference Barseghyan said the service, which is free of charge, will be available to anyone who has an account at Ameriabank, is subscribed to a Ucom TV-package and uses the telephone banking service, also provided jointly by Ameriabank and Ucom.
In Barseghyan’s words, the use of the menu of the TV-banking requires a bank card number and password: the password is simple - the first 4 digits of the telephone banking code. He said also if the customer pays utility bills for several households, he/she can create individual payment groups in the menu on the TV screen.
‘Now, all these services are available to our customers at their homes. Thus, we provide our services through all possible channels of communication - the Internet, phone and now television,' he said.
To activate the service, customers should visit a Ucom office. As for new subscribers to Ucom TV packages, the banking application will be installed automatically.
Ameriabank Technology & Operations Director Burastan Movsisyan noted that the TV-banking service is secure and fully protected from outside interference.
"Prior to offering the TV banking service to our customers, we had conducted a string of tests in order to rule out the slightest inconvenience. The maintaining software meets all the requirements of high reliability," she noted.
Ucom Marketing Director Tigran Safaryan said the successful cooperation with Ameriabank will continue. "We have come a long way together with Ameriabank and today we announce a new project, hopefully not the last,' he added.
