Ameriabank signs $20 million loan agreement with French Proparco

Armenia-based Ameriabank has signed a $20 million loan agreement today with Proparco, a subsidiary of the French Development Agency, whose activities are aimed at developing the private sector.

YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Armenia-based Ameriabank has signed a $20 million loan agreement today with Proparco, a subsidiary of the French Development Agency, whose activities are aimed at developing the private sector. The agreement was signed by Director General of Ameriabank Artak Hanesyan and Proparco Director for Financial Institutions Guillaume Barbrus.
Ameriabank will use the loan to enhance entrepreneurship in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, agriculture, food processing, education and health, as well as implementation of programs that are essential in terms of stimulating economic growth and creating new jobs.
This is the second loan agreement signed between Ameriabank and Proparco. The first loan agreement to the tune of $15 million was concluded back in 2013 to finance small and medium-sized enterprises, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
During the signing ceremony today French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-François Charpentier welcomed Proparco’s intention to expand its activities in Armenia. According to him, the activities of Proparco are in tune with its principles - to promote the stable development of "green economy" as well as with the desire of the Armenian authorities to develop renewable energy.
Director General of Ameriabank Artak Hanesyan noted that the loan agreement is another step in the development of the economy and creating new jobs by attracting long-term and available financial resources.
Ameriabank is a universal bank providing investment, corporate and retail banking services in a comprehensive package of banking solutions. It is the first investment bank in Armenia, which has been providing a wide range of innovative banking services since 2008.
The assets of the bank in the first 9 months of 2016 amounted to 524.1 billion drams (1.6% growth from the beginning of the year), its liabilities grew by 1.27% to 462.3 billion drams and the capital rose by 4.13% to 61.7 billion drams. In the reporting period of time the bank earned also 3.5 billion drams in profit ($1 – 479.40 drams). -0-
