Armavia denies rumors about pending sale to Russian investors

A spokeswoman for Armenia’s national carrier, Armavia, denied media speculation that Russian investors sought to take hold of the airliner. Nana Avetisova, the press secretary of the company, described this speculation in her Facaebook page as ‘complete nonsense.’
YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. A spokeswoman for Armenia’s national carrier, Armavia, denied media speculation that Russian investors sought to take hold of the airliner. Nana Avetisova, the press secretary of the company, described this speculation in her Facaebook page as ‘complete nonsense.’
A Russian online newspaper Gazeta.Ru claimed citing its sources that a group of Russian investors was ready to pay $55 million for the airliner. It argued that the deal may be finalized before the end of the year.
According to the Russian newspaper, the proposal was conveyed to Armavia owner, Mikhail Baghdasarov, by a former member of Armenian parliament, Harutyun Pambukian who moved from Armenia to Moscow in 2011.
Pambukian is owner of MaxGroup company with head office in Yerevan. It is one of the largest commercial and industrial structures of Armenia, dealing also with imports of gasoline and diesel fuel.
Armavia was founded in 1996 and meets IATA criteria . Today it operates over 100 flights a week to over 40 destinations in 20 countries. -0-
