Armenal’s foil production 4.9% up at 19,543 tons in 9 months

Armenal Armenian-Russian foil rolling mill produced 19,543 tons in January-September 2012, which is a 4.9% increase against the same period of 2011, the mill’s press service reported.

YEREVAN, November 12. /ARKA/. Armenal Armenian-Russian foil rolling mill produced 19,543 tons in January-September 2012, which is a 4.9% increase against the same period of 2011, the mill’s press service reported.

The Armenal foil rolling mill was founded in May 2000 on the basis of Kanaker aluminum smelter in Yerevan. It is one of the biggest production facilities in Armenia and is the only producer of aluminum foil in the Caucasus and Central Asian regions. On May 18th, 2000 the mill was integrated into United Company RUSAL. Together with two other foil mills, SAYANAL in the Russian republic of Khakasia and Urals Foil, ARMENAL forms the company’s Packaging Division. 

Armenal is a biggest Armenian exporter of finished industrial products, says the report of the country’s state revenues committee.
According to the customs service, aluminum foil exports were 19,113 tons in the first 9 months of 2012, a 7.2% increase against the same period of the year before. Armenal’s share in overall Armenian exports is 5.7%. Armenal’s products constitute 87% of all Armenian exports to the United States.

According to the tax authorities, Armenal’s payments to the government budget grew by 16.4% in the reporting period, as compared to January-September 2011.

Performance indicators improve and wages increase at Armenal. Average monthly wages were 261,700drams (640 dollars at a current rate), a 4% reduction against the year before. –0--
