YEREVAN, August 19. /ARKA/. Armenia and Iran intend to evaluate their tariff policies related to the transportation of transit cargo and have decided to form a working group to tackle this matter in the near future, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia following Minister David Khudatyan's meeting with Farzaneh Sadegh, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which occurred the previous day in Yerevan.

Khudatyan remarked that Iran is a significant partner for Armenia. He expressed gratitude to his Iranian counterparts for their assistance following the floods in Armenia's Lori and Tavush regions last year, as well as for the provision of metal bridges to Armenia.

During their discussion, Khudatyan and Sadegh focused on the road construction of the 32-kilometer Kajaran-Agarak segment of the North-South international transport corridor. It was previously reported that the contractor for this project is a consortium of Iranian companies: Abad Rahan Pars International Group and Tunnel Sadd Ariana.

Khudatyan indicated that the progress of the work is satisfactory and that the Armenian side holds the construction consortium's efforts in high regard.

Topics concerning the aviation sector were also addressed. The minister highlighted the necessity of enhancing regular air traffic with various Iranian cities and acknowledged the significant demand for the Armenia–Iran air route.

The North-South transport corridor stands as one of the most substantial projects in the history of independent Armenia. Upon its completion, it will shorten the distance between the Iranian and Georgian borders from 556 to 490 kilometers, greatly improving access to the Black Sea for both Armenia and Iran.-0-
