Armenia and Russia Discuss Modernizing Air Traffic Management Messaging

YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. A working group of specialists from the Russian State Air Traffic Management Corporation (ATM) and Armenia's Armaeronavigation met in Yerevan to discuss organizing interactions between communication centers with the transition to the AMHS messaging protocol.

Currently, messages are exchanged between the Russian Rostov-on-Don and Yerevan air traffic control centers using the AFTN protocol, according to the state corporation's website.

Transitioning to the AMHS protocol will significantly increase transmission channel capacity and create a more reliable and flexible communications infrastructure, which is crucial for flight safety.

As part of the transition to the new protocol, testing was conducted, confirming the full technical readiness of the communication channels and the correct interaction of software and hardware systems using the AMHS protocol.

Specialists conducted a series of test communications sessions, ensuring stable transmission of service and test messages between communications centers in Yerevan, Moscow, and Rostov-on-Don.

The parties also discussed alternative routing options in the event of potential disruptions to communications channels or AMHS systems.

The transition to the AMHS system is expected to facilitate the development of air travel between Russia and Armenia. -0-
