Armenia intends to import wheat solely via rail from Kazakhstan and Russia-Papoyan
YEREVAN, November 4. /ARКА/. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan expressed optimism that Armenia will import wheat exclusively by rail from both Kazakhstan and Russia.
"Two significant measures are being implemented in this regard. I am hopeful that Armenia will henceforth import wheat solely by rail, which is economically advantageous, from Kazakhstan and Russia. The price of Kazakh and Russian wheat decreases considerably when transported to Armenia by rail," Papoyan stated on Tuesday during a parliamentary session discussing the draft state budget for 2026.
The minister also mentioned that relevant announcements will be forthcoming and actions will be initiated in the upcoming days.
On October 21, the President of Azerbaijan had lifted all restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia through Azerbaijan’s territory. The first shipment of goods transported in this manner is wheat from Kazakhstan.
Yerevan welcomed the statement from the Azerbaijani leader, highlighting its significance for enhancing regional communications, building mutual trust, and formalizing the peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.-0-
