Armenia's Ministry of Economy denies rumors about re-export of flowers to Russia
YEREVAN, July 21. /ARКА/. The Armenian Economy Ministry has denied rumors that local flower exporters are importing flowers from other countries for subsequent re-export to Russia.
Russia recently restricted flower imports from Armenia. The restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation have caused discontent among flower exporters, who have staged protests demanding that the government find a solution to the problem.
According to rumors, the restrictions on flower exports to Russia are partly due to the fact that the flowers are not grown in Armenia, but are imported and re-exported by exporters from other countries.
In response to a request from Armenpress, the Economy Ministry noted that the volume of flower imports from abroad is insignificant compared to the volume of exports from Armenia to Russia, and that mainly only seedlings are imported.
“Flowers are grown in Armenia from imported seedlings and then exported to Russia,” the ministry said.
It reported that from January 1 to July 20, 2025, more than 38 million flowers were exported from the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation, while the number of cut flowers imported from various countries amounted to about 300,000. -0-
