YEREVAN, March 5. /ARKA/. Armenian farms will be offered crop insurance against frosts, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said.
“We have developed a project according to which the government will compensate 70-80% of farmers' insurance premiums. Besides, if insurance companies' payments exceed 200%, the government will compensate the part of damage that exceeded the established threshold,” Papoyan said at the government's question-and-answer session in Parliament on Wednesday.
The minister noted that unlike in 2024, this year farmers will be offered insurance for 13 types of crops.
“For example, last year frost was not included in the insurance requirements, but this year it will be included. That is, they will have access to the full package that our citizens are used to,” he said.
In Armenia, 13 types of crops (grapes, apricots, peaches, plums, apples, cherries, watermelons, melons, potatoes, winter and spring wheat, barley and oats) are insured against spring frosts, drought, hail and fires. -0-
