Armenia and Malta sign agreement to eliminate double taxation

Armenia's Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan  met on Wednesday with his Maltese counterpart Carmelo Abela on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Armenia's Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan  met on Wednesday with his Maltese counterpart Carmelo Abela on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

They were said to have expressed satisfaction with the dynamic dialogue between the two countries and the registered achievements. In this context, importance was attached to holding regular  consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, to stimulating effective bilateral contacts in the parliamentary format, to the implementation of bilateral visits at different levels, and at initiating exchange programs in the fields of education and culture.

The parties expressed also their mutual readiness to continue the implementation of practical steps to develop and expand partnerships in such promising areas of cooperation such as trade, agriculture, tourism, information technology, creative education and innovation. At the same time, importance was attached to the creation of new platforms for interaction with the involvement of the main actors in these areas.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed an agreement between the governments of Armenia and Malta on the elimination of double taxation of income and the prevention of tax evasion.

According to the Foreign Ministers, the signing of the agreement is the first step for maximizing the rapprochement of business circles of the two countries and creating favorable conditions for their cooperation. -0-
