Armenia ltd airline did not request permission to operate flights, economy minister says

Armenia LTD airline, which according to some media reports, plans to carry out regular flights to and from Armenia, did not request yet the government’s permission, economy minister Karen Chshmarityan said today.

YEREVAN, February 3. /ARKA/. Armenia LTD airline, which according to some media reports, plans to carry out regular flights to and from Armenia, did not request yet the government’s permission, economy minister Karen Chshmarityan said today.
According to Georgian newspaper ‘Kommersant’, the founder of Airzena airline are Tamaz Gaiashvili and former deputy CEO of Airzena Robert Hovhannisyan who will found a new airline in Armenia and most of the staff will be from Airzena. Kommersant reported also that the company will be using Georgia Airways’ planes.
"There are legal procedures for obtaining a permission to operate flights. We did not yet receive any applications with a corresponding request,' said Chshmarityan.
The minister added also he had no information about the alleged shareholders of the new airline.
Acting on a recommendation by McKinsey & Company and the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia the Armenian government liberalized the domestic civil aviation sector in 2013 October saying that all local and foreign airlines meeting safety standards will be allowed to fly to and from Armenia without special authorizations or other restrictions. –0-
