Armenia’s accession to Eurasian Economic Union gives big opportunities to country for exporting agricultural products

Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union gave the country favorable conditions for export of agricultural products, Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said Wednesday at as met with representatives of exporter companies to discuss exports of fresh fruits and vegetables with them.  
YEREVAN, June 10. /ARKA/. Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union gave the country favorable conditions for export of agricultural products, Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said Wednesday at as met with representatives of exporter companies to discuss exports of fresh fruits and vegetables with them.   

According to the agriculture ministry’s press office, Karapetyan also said that exporters, taking into account the simplified procedures, should build up volumes of their fruit and vegetable exports, especially to Russia. 

Pointing out that crop will be rich this year, especially in apricots and grapes, the minister stressed the importance of organization of exports. 

“Export is under way now, and export of apricots will start in a few days, and we should organize it properly and on time,” he said. 

Exporters said now potatoes and cabbage are being exported with no paperwork problems.

They pointed out the jams that sometimes happen at Upper Lars border checkpoint as key obstacle.  

A representative of Spayka said that the company came up with a new initiative this year – new vehicles with Russian numbers were bought for exporting goods without obstacles and queue to Russia.

He said the trucks are able to carry up to 2.5 tons of cargoes and load them directly from farmers. 

Karapetyan told farmers that there is a hot line in the ministry and proposed them to inform the ministry about their problems on time to have a quick reaction and solution. 

Earlier, the agriculture minister said that Armenia exports 300 to 500 tons of vegetables and fruits every day and that some 2,000 tons of greenhouse cucumbers, 700 tons of tomatoes, 8860 tons of cabbage and 280 tons of cherries have been exported this year by early June. ---0----
