Armenia's gasoline affordability improves by 20 percent

The amount of gasoline that an average salary can buy in Armenia has increased by 20%, according to a gasoline affordability study, conducted by Picodi firm.

YEREVAN, July 29. /ARKA/. The amount of gasoline that an average salary can buy in Armenia has increased by 20%, according to a gasoline affordability study, conducted by Picodi firm.
Picodi analysts analyzed how the price of gasoline changed in the first half of 2020 in the world and calculated how many liters of gasoline residents of Europe and the CIS counties can afford in 2020.
According to the study, in the majority of European and CIS countries, the price of gasoline in the first half of 2020 was on average lower than in 2019. The largest drop in prices was recorded in Azerbaijan (-28%), Ukraine (-15.4%) and Romania (-14%).
"In most countries, the price of gasoline has decreased, but in Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Belarus it has increased. In Russia, the cost of gasoline has grown by 0.8%. But the largest rise in price was in Belarus - + 12.4%. In the South Caucasus, prices fell by 10.1% in Armenia, by 2.4% in Georgia and by 28% in Azerbaijan. The lowest average price per liter of gasoline was in Kazakhstan - $0. 42," according to the study.
During this period the average price for a liter of gasoline in Armenia was $0.78. Although the lowest average price per liter of gasoline was in Kazakhstan, the average salary in this country can buy 923 liters of gasoline, while in Sweden a liter of gasoline costs $1.46, and an average salary can buy as much as 1,949 liters.
In the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan is the leader in terms of gasoline price and quantity an average salary can buy , having improved its indicators by 76% compared to 2019 - $0.64 per liter and 623 liters per salary. In Armenia, the amount of gasoline that can be bought has increased by 20%, but this figure is still lower than in Georgia: 403 and 434 liters, respectively.
According to the index, in Armenia, an average salary of 153,205 drams (about $316) can buy 403 liters of gasoline.
The world ranking is topped by the Persian Gulf countries . In Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, an average salary can buy between 5,112 and 8,210 liters of gasoline. However, it's worth noting that Kuwaitis can afford 139 liters less than last year. In turn, the Saudi Arabians and Qataris in 2020 can purchase 4,933 and 1,602 liters more, respectively. –0--
