Armenia’s jewelry manufacturing industry nearly triples in first half of 2016

Jewelry production in Armenia in the first six months of 2016 amounted to 16.692.5 billion drams, having increased by 2.7 times when compared with January-June 2015, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).
YEREVAN, August 1. /ARKA/. Jewelry production in Armenia in the first six months of 2016 amounted to 16.692.5 billion drams, having increased by 2.7 times when compared with January-June 2015, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).
In the first half of 2016 local companies produced a total of 394.9 kg of jewelry against 560.2 kg in the same period last year, it said.
Diamond production during the reporting period amounted to 59,119 carats against 21,670 carats in January-June 2015.
The export of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and relating goods in January-June 2016 amounted to approximately $165.9 million, an increase of 83.3%, while imports of these types of goods amounted to $ 69.2 million, an increase of 50.7%). -0-
