YEREVAN, January 16. /ARKA/. As part of a plan to streamline its operations Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) has laid off 128 customs officers, the head of the SRC David Ananyan said at a press conference on Wednesday.
He recalled that as early as October 2018, the employees of seven departments (about 580 people) had been notified about possible layoff.
He said the layoffs had been preceded by two-month long assessment of the staff’s professional capabilities, and as a result, 128 people were relieved of their posts.
‘Unfortunately, in many cases we had to choose between the best and the good; not all of them deserved dismissal, but according to the logic of optimization, we were forced to make the decision," said Ananyan.
Ananyan did not rule out that in several months the SRC would reconsider this decision with respect to some officers.
According to him, the rest of the staff were reappointed to their posts. He said this is just the beginning of the reform and the optimization will continue. - 0—
