YEREVAN, April 15. /ARKA/. Armenia will have a trade attaché in Iran. A corresponding decision was approved today by the government.

According to the government, the need to create a new position is due to the large potential of the Armenian-Iranian economic cooperation, as well as the increased interest of Iranian state structures and private companies in interaction with the public sector and business circles of Armenia.

In particular, trade and economic cooperation and mutual visits are expected to intensify against the background of ongoing economic reforms in Armenia and simplification of many procedures and policies to attract investments.

At the same time, the trade attaché will represent the interests of Armenian businesses in Iran, including facilitating the possibility of their entry the Iranian market.

According to the Armenian Ministry of Economy, at the moment creating joint ventures is being discussed, as well as the possibility of replacing Turkish products in the Armenian market with Iranian goods.

In this context, the possibility of eliminating transport obstacles and facilitating the procedure for financial transfers is being discussed. Also, in order to organize the export of food products from Armenia to Iran, Armenia is considering the possibility of creating a "Halal" office.

According to the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in 2020 amounted to $400.2 million, with exports to Iran amounting to $ 84.8 million, and imports from Iran to $315.4 million.

Currently, Armenia has trade representatives or attachés in China, Belarus, Austria, Switzerland and Turkmenistan. –0--
