YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. Armenian National Assembly’s Committee on Economic Affairs approved Wednesday a set of amendments and additions to the law On State Control over Food Products Safety, designed to regulate the process of customs laboratory tests.

"The Armenian government plans to regulate the process of customs laboratory tests within the framework of border control, particularly at the stage of importing food products into the territory of the republic," said Petros Martirosyan, Head of the Coordination Office of Inspection Bodies at the Office of Prime Minister.

The amendments are to establish a legal regulation, according to which an importing organization will be allowed to independently choose a laboratory that will have to conduct sampling and examination of imported food products.

"In case of disagreement with the results of the examination, the importing company will have the opportunity to send the sample to a reference testing laboratory of another state according to the list approved by the decision of the Armenian government, but at their own expense," Martirosyan said.

The result received from this laboratory will be considered final until the appointment of a reference laboratory in the territory of Armenia, if necessary, he said. -0-
