Armenia to modernize Meghri border check point
YEREVAN, November 3. /ARKA/. The border checkpoint in the southern Armenian Meghri, on the border with Iran, will see a major renovation in 2021, the head of the State Revenue Committee Edward Hovhannisyan said at a meeting of the standing parliamentary commission on economic, financial, credit and budget issues.
He said the funds provided as grants and loans will be used to make the border checkpoint comply with modern conditions.
On September 18, the Armenian parliament ratified the loan agreement signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. According to the agreement, a total of 21.2 million euros will be received for the modernization and expansion of the Meghri checkpoint, of which 10.7 million euros will be attracted in the form of loans and 10.5 million euros as a grant, to be provided by EU. -0-
