Armenian exports to Russia in first quarter more than doubled to $67.7 million

Armenian exports to Russia in the first quarter of 2016 more than doubled to $67.7 million from the year earlier, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS). Russian imports to Armenia during the reporting period decreased by 26.7% to $179 million.

YEREVAN, April 29. /ARKA/. Armenian exports to Russia in the first quarter of 2016 more than doubled to $67.7 million from the year earlier, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS). Russian imports to Armenia during the reporting period decreased by 26.7% to $179 million. 
In 2015 Armenian exports to Russia fell by 18% due to economic downturn in Russia, in particular, due to sharp devaluation of the ruble by more than 50%.

Armenia's foreign trade  with Russia in January-March 2016 decreased by 10.4% when compared to the same period of 2015 to about $246.6 million or 26.6% of Armenia's  total foreign trade turnover.

According to the NSS, Armenia's foreign trade turnover with CIS countries dropped by 13.2% to $276.7 million, trade with EU countries fell by 3.2: to $249.8 million and trade with other countries grew by 2.4% to $470.5 million.

Armenia's overall foreign trade turnover in January-March 2016 stood at approximately $997.1 million, a decline of 3.8% compared to the same period of 2015.

Armenian exports increased by 26.3% to approximately $375.9 million, while imports fell by 15.9% to $621.2 million. The resulting trade deficit decreased to $245.3 million from $441.1 million in the first quarter of 2015. ($ 1 - 479.6 drams). -0-
