Armenian government allows external advertising of medicines

YEREVAN, Oct. 6. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved today a package of amendments to the laws on advertising, medicines and administrative violations, which allow external advertisement of medicines.
Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan said that under the current legislation, external advertisement of medicines is prohibited, while other types of advertisement of medicines are allowed.
Kerobyan said also that the ban on external advertising of gambling and casinos cut the income of advertising firms by about 30%.
"As a result, advertising companies are facing serious problems. With this change, we're trying to help these firms a little bit by creating a level playing field for different advertising companies," he stressed.
The minister pointed out that the amendments would not affect the cost of medicines. Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan added that only over-the-counter medicines will be advertised. --0--
