YEREVAN, May 11. /ARKA/. The Meghri checkpoint on the Armenian-Iranian border will be modernized by Iranian Tana Energy Management company. A decision to that effect was made at Thursday's regular session of the Armenian government.

The Iranian company was recognized as the winner of a tender announced by the Armenian government in 2021.

The project will be implemented within the frames of a loan program of the Armenian government and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The construction of the checkpoint will cost about €18.5 million. The first tranche will be allocated until the end of the first half of 2023.

The agreement on modernizing the Meghri checkpoint was signed between the State Revenue Committee of Armenia and Tana Energy Management Company (Iran) on January 27, 2023. -0-
