Armenia’s government has decided today to extend the ban on the export of wheat, barley, corn, sunflower seeds, buckwheat and sunflower oil.

YEREVAN, June 29. /ARKA/. Armenia’s government has decided today to extend the ban on the export of wheat, barley, corn, sunflower seeds, buckwheat and sunflower oil.
The ban, extended for six months, applies to countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The government said this decision was prompted by food security issues as well as by the need to stabilize economic situation.
Local production does not meet the domestic market needs. Particularly for the goods mentioned above. The shortage is mainly made up for by imports.
Armenia first introduced the ban in May 2022. The authorities plan to improve food security and increase self-sufficiency in key food basket products. -0-
