YEREVAN, March 3. /ARKA/. Armenian prime minister Karen Karapetyan has ordered today to suspend the opening of trade offices abroad during a discussion on foreign economic policy of the country with heads of foreign ministry’s departments and diplomats.
"I think this (opening of trade offices) is not effective. If we have embassies and interests in these countries, why not use our embassies’ potential?,’ he said.
According to the ministry of economic development and investments, today Armenia has trade representatives in Russia, the EU and the WTO. On February 2 the government decided to open a trade office in China.
The prime minister said Armenian embassies and consulates abroad should use more efforts to attract investments to Armenia and present Armenia’s investment opportunities.
According to Karapetyan, Armenian diplomatic missions abroad should have regular contacts with the ministry of economic development and investment, and other government agencies.
"Let us just roll up our sleeves and get to work", the head of government said. -0-
