Armenian government to facilitate customs procedures
YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Revenue Committee has drafted a bill simplifying customs procedures. The bill was presented at a Cabinet session today by the Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Vakhtang Mirumyan.

He said the draft law calls for abolition of the pre-customs control department, a unit of the State Revenue Committee and redistributing its powers among the customs departments. According to him, the move is another important step in terms of facilitating the procedure for transporting goods across the customs borders of Armenia

"In particular, having abolished this department, we exempt the documents accompanying the goods from re-checking. The time necessary for these procedures is significantly reduced for business," Mirumyan said, noting that this decision will have a positive effect on the business environment.

The draft law was praised by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, who said  he was sure that this is a very bold and right step.

"We are providing businesses with the opportunity to cross the border as freely as possible," Karapetyan said. -0-
