Armenian-Iranian trade rose 37.4% in first quarter of 2022
YEREVAN, May 12. /ARKA/. According to official data for 2021, there were 6,363 registered companies in Armenia with Iranian capital, Armen Arzumanyan, Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy, told the Armenian-Iranian business forum on Thursday in Yerevan.
"According to the Armenian Statistical Committee, the trade turnover between our countries in January-March 2022 totaled $140.24 million, which is 37.4% more than in the same time period last year," the deputy minister said.
According to him, the Armenian government has implemented a number of reforms in recent years designed to improve investment and business environment.
"Today Armenia is a country of opportunities with modern, educated, hard-working human capital, with different formats of cooperation with many countries," Arzumanyan stated.
Mahmoud Ali Faranakian, an advisor to the Iranian Minister of Energy, pointed out the important role of governmental structures in providing broad opportunities for cooperation of business circles, removing the existing obstacles and establishing direct contacts between businessmen.
Ambassador of Iran to Armenia Badakhshan Zohuri pointed to the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Iran, availability of favorable conditions for the development of cooperation.
In this regard he attached importance to the study of the existing business potential of the two countries.
Armenia and Iran signed also a Memorandum of Understanding between Free Economic Zones Meghri (Armenia) and Aras (Iran).
Armenian Economy Ministry said the document envisages simplified access of Iranian investors to FEZ Meghri as well as a possibility for Armenian businessmen to enter Iranian market through FEZ Aras.
The Armenian-Iranian business forum was held in Yerevan on Thursday as part of the 17th joint session of the Intergovernmental Commission. --0--
