Armenian law sets fines of 5-20 million drams for violation of industrial hemp cultivation norms

YEREVAN, June 30. /ARKA/. The fine that will be imposed for the breach of rules set for cultivating industrial hemp will range from 5 to 20 million drams (from $10,000 to $40,300), Deputy Minister of Economy Tigran Gabrielyan said on Wednesday, when presenting amendments to the law On Administrative Offenses to outgoing MPs.
According to him, the fines are meant to serve as a deterrent mechanism for unscrupulous producers in this area.
"In particular, the amendments are designed to regulate such issues as violation of the license for the production of industrial hemp, its cultivation or export and import, including the transfer of some quotas to persons who do not have the appropriate license," Gabrielyan said.
He noted that supervisory authorities will be provided with the right to inspect all the cycles - from production to export.
The law allowing cultivation of industrial hemp was approved by Armenian parliament earlier this month in the second and final reading. ($1 - 495.37 drams). -0-
