Armenian light industry companies will be provided with additional benefits, prime minister Karen Karapetyan told a Cabinet session today, giving two weeks to ministers of finance and economic development and investments, as well as the head of the State Revenue Committee, to develop and submit a package of relevant proposals on condition that these companies create new jobs.

Armenian light industry companies will be provided with additional benefits, prime minister Karen Karapetyan told a Cabinet session today, giving two weeks to ministers of finance and economic development and investments, as well as the head of the State Revenue Committee, to develop and submit a package of relevant proposals on condition that these companies create new jobs.
"The government should promote the development of economy sectors with high potential. They are, in particular, companies engaged in the production of textile, knitwear, leather goods, carpets and shoes, which create also new jobs," Karapetyan was quoted by the government press office as saying.
The light industry was declared a priority in 2011 by the government, as a sector with great potential for both development and export.
According to the National Statistical Service, in 2016 some 11.5 billion drams worth clothes were produced by garment factories. ($ 1 - 482.56). --0--
