Armenian office of prosecutor general discovers 64.1 billion drams worth damage caused to government

As part of criminal cases initiated by a department of Armenia's Office of Prosecutor General engaged in fighting corruption and economic crimes, a total of 64.1 billion drams worth damage sustained to the government, was revealed in the first 9 months of 2018.

YEREVAN, October 29 /ARKA/. As part of criminal cases initiated by a department of Armenia's Office of Prosecutor General engaged in fighting corruption and economic crimes, a total of 64.1 billion drams worth damage sustained to the government, was revealed in the first 9 months of 2018.

The Office of Prosecutor general said today that 10.5 billion drams worth damage was already recovered. It said of the total amount some 14.2 billion drams worth damage was revealed during the investigation into criminal cases launched by the National Security Service, almost 9 billion drams worth damage was revealed by the investigation department of the State Revenue Committee, 7.7 billion drams worth damage was discovered by the Special Investigative Service, and the rest - about 33.4 billion drams – by the Investigative Committee.

The latter amount includes 23.5 billion drams damage, revealed by the criminal case initiated by the Prosecutor General’s Office into the implementation of the North-South Transport Corridor program.

In addition to 10.5 billion drams that were recovered, another 6.9 billion drams worth damage is expected to be recovered as arrest was imposed on that amount in foreign currency.

The Office of Prosecutor general said also that some 1.7 billion drams were recovered as  fines and penalties. ($ 1 - AMD 485.97). --0--
