Armenian premier points out conditions of High Voltage Networks handover to private management
YEREVAN, June 1. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Friday at a regular cabinet meeting that if the High Voltage Networks CJSC is handed over to any private company for discretionary management, the manager company must not have ties with the authorities and must not be registered in offshore areas.

On August 24, 2017, the Armenian government handed the High Voltage Electric Networks CJSC over to Tashir Capital for discretionary management.

All the 649,231 shares of AMD 13,600 each (the total amount is AMD 8.8 billion) were handed over to Tashir Capital.

On Wednesday, Armenian Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Minister Arthur Grigoryan said that the contract was terminated and the discretionary management recalled, since there were some provisions in the contract which were not beneficial to the state.

Pashinyan said today that two key energy companies [the High Voltage Networks and the Electric Networks of Armenia – ARKA] shouldn't be run by one company.

He also said that it is still not decided whether the High Voltage Networks will be handed over to a private company or it will be run by the government.

«I can say for sure that if the Networks is privatized, it will be run by companies not affiliated with the authorities,» the premier said adding that it will also not be handed over to a company registered in offshore zones.

Earlier, Tashir Group issued a statement expressing perplexity over the stance taken by the energy minister. --0---
