YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, met Monday with representatives of the European Business Association and European companies operating in Armenia and told them about 341 projects of potential investments totaling $3.2 billion, the press office of the government reports.
He said that he considers business as partner and motivating influence of economy.
In his words, the government’s 100-day activity is aimed at improvement of business environment.
Karapetyan pointed out the necessity of attracting European businesses and investments to Armenia.
He said that these projects will be financed from different sources, including the government and communities’ budgets and the private sector.
“These programs have financial sources and partners,” he said. “We find it possible to implement programs of the total cost of $840 million. Now the government is discussing 79 other programs worth $5.3 billion.”
Karapetyan called these projects logical. “We have preliminary arrangements in terms of investments and partnership,” he said.
Diana Sarumova, the executive director of the European Business Association, and the entrepreneurs, in return, thanked Karapetyan for his efforts to improve the State Revenue Committee, which made the committee’s activity more transparent.
The premier said that the committee will release a list of law-abiding taxpayers. This will be a message to banks prompting to extend them loans at lower interest rates.
“We will do everything to provide lawful businesses with particular advantages,” he said.
