Armenian small and midsized enterprises (SME) are able to attract about 20-30 million euros, head of EBRD Yerevan office Mark Davis said.

YEREVAN, October 23./ARKA/. Armenian small and midsized enterprises (SME) are able to attract about 20-30 million euros, head of EBRD Yerevan office Mark Davis said.
Traditionally Armenian companies have been obtaining funds for their development through loans from banks.
According to Davis, this approach prevents companies from going into the next stage f development. Companies should enter the capital market and attract money through bonds and shares, he said.
The borrowing levels increase and new tools should be found to attract investments, EBRD representative said.
Davis stressed the importance of developing the capital market providing lots of opportunities, but said it is not a must for every company.
According to the head of EBRD Yerevan office, Armenian SME should take preliminary steps, particularly legalize their businesses, enhance corporate culture and ensure transparency of financial flows for potential investors. –0—
