YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. Armenian wine and brandy makers are discussing ways to unite their associations, the press office of Armenia's agriculture ministry reported Wednesday after a joint session of these two organizations.
«Today's session is first of all aimed at finding ground for cooperation between the two associations and organizing their productive work,» said Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan at the session.
The activity of each of these associations is not effective, he said, and there are many problems accumulated for years. It is necessary to do everything to find solutions to these problems as soon as possible, he added.
The minister stressed that such discussions may strengthen cooperation between public and private sectors.
He proposed the representatives of the two associations to set up an action group, discuss the matter throughout one month and present a joint stance on the idea of unification of the two organizations.
At the meeting, the parties also discussed the issues related to procurements of grapes.
Karapetyan said that grapes are already on sale in three or four provinces. He said all the canneries had expressed willingness to purchase the offered volumes of grapes, but some financial problems are still hobbling the process.
Issues related to brandy export and mechanisms of control over purchased grapes were discussed at the session as well. ---0----
