Asian Development Bank and Armenia discuss agriculture cooperation

Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Artak Kamalyan received on Tuesday Donneth Walton, Director for Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Division at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to discuss a set of projects and initiatives to be implemented jointly in Armenia.

YEREVAN, October 1. /ARКА/. Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Artak Kamalyan received on Tuesday Donneth Walton, Director for Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Division at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to discuss a set of projects and initiatives to be implemented jointly in Armenia.
The Armenian ministry said the sides looked into the ADB-developed Partnership Strategy with Armenia for 2019-2023. As part of it the Asian Development Bank will provide Armenia with technical assistance for making an agricultural study.
Kamalyan was said to have spoken briefly about the main provisions and directions of the government's plan of activities to boost the agricultural sector, the projections and a roadmap of measures to achieve the goals.
The deputy minister separately focused upon strategic priorities in the agricultural sector - such as increasing competitiveness and productivity, ensuring food safety, improving food security, expanding export opportunities, developing human and institutional capacities, promoting the sustainable development of rural communities, and stimulating digital agriculture and technological innovation.
During the meeting, the parties also touched upon a number of issues of mutual interest. -0-
