YEREVAN, March 25. /ARKA/. Over 250 Armenian restaurant owners, chefs and managers who gathered on March 23 in Yerevan for the constituent assembly of the Association of Armenian Restaurants, elected also a 25-member Council.

One of the founders of the Association, CEO of Yeremyan Projects Company David Yeremyan said the creation of the public organization will not only spur the development of restaurant business in the country, but also have a serious impact on the related sectors.

“The restaurant business is one of the dynamically developing sectors of the country's economy, but it has numerous problems, the solution of which requires a consolidated approach of all those involved in it. Of particular importance is the mutually beneficial cooperation between the private and public sectors to attract new investment,” he said.

According to Yeremyan, the creation of the Association will be a milestone for raising the level of service in restaurants and their responsibility towards customers.

“It is important that restaurants create a common platform for resolving their problems, including improving the quality of service,” he said.

“We should not forget that the level of service has a serious impact on tourists and the guests of the country, creating an impression not only about the restaurant itself, but also of the settlement where it is located, even about the whole country and its people,” he said.

Welcoming the creation of the Association First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Gegham Gevorkyan told journalists that given the number of products used by the local restaurants, the public organization will become a strong incentive for both local agriculture.

According to him, close relations between the restaurants and farmers is expected to cut the prices of agricultural products by pushing intermediaries out of the market.

Gevorgyan said  also that a number of restaurants, in particular, those included in  the Yeremyan Projects network, are already taking concrete steps in this direction, purchasing agricultural products directly from the farmers .

“This approach contains also elements of social responsibility, since it stimulates not only the development of the industry, but also the possibility of creating new jobs,” he said.  --0--
