Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia fined for abuse of dominant position
YEREVAN, February 26. / ARKA /. Armenia’s anti-trust agency has ruled today to fine the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Armenia in the amount of 50 million drams for abusing its dominant position in the market.

The decision of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) was prompted by a complaint filed by Jermuk International Pepsi-Cola Bottlers that Coca-Cola created barriers to competitors for entering the market.

In particular, Jermuk International Pepsi-Cola Bottlers complained that 11 trade and service outlets located inside the Dalma Garden Mall refused to purchase and sell Pepsi-Cola drinks.

SCPEC chairman Artak Shaboyan said a study found that Coca-Cola offered the outlets a number of favorable discounts, promotions on condition that they sold only its drinks.

In 2005 Coca Cola was already fined in the amount of 1% of its profits in 2004, which equaled $100,000. - 0-
