Company director arrested for selling sugar and buckwheat without payment documents

YEREVAN, June 21. /ARKA/. An Armenian court allowed law-enforcement authorities to arrest the director of At.Land LLC on charges of tax evasion.

The company is accused of selling 850 tons of sugar and 61 tons of buckwheat imported from Russia in 2020-2023 without issuing invoicing documents to buyers, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) reported today.

It said in order to conceal the real buyers of sugar and buckwheat the director of the company had drawn up false documents to show that he himself bought part of the products. The rest of the goods, according to those documents, were allegedly sold at 97% discount.

The director alleged that he used 320 tons of sugar to feed his bees and distill alcohol to disinfect the warehouses.

The Investigation Committee initiated criminal proceedings for not paying 78 million drams in taxes.

Employees of the SRC and the Investigation Committee followed the trucks of At. Land after customs clearance at Bagratasehn customs checkpoint until they arrived in Yerevan on the same day, where a large amount of sugar was sold without issuing settlement documents to buyers.

As a result of operative investigation measures carried out immediately after the purchase, factual evidence was received that At.Land had earlier sold large quantities of sugar without accounting documents.

A decision was made to confiscate about 20 tons of sugar imported by At. Land. -0-
