YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. The Armenian government decided today to release funds for kicking off  the construction of the customs house for vehicles in the country's second-largest town of Gyumri.
According to government officials, the decision to move the customs house from Yerevan to Gyumri will facilitate external economic activities.

The head of the State Revenue Committee Davit Ananyan said earlier the relocation of the customs house for vehicles is prompted by the anticipated growth in the number of cars imported to Armenia from outside Eurasian Economic Union-member countries.

David Ananyan recalled that  a previous government meeting released the equivalent of about $380,000 for the purpose.

He noted that at this stage, 966 million 480 thousand drams will be allocated for the design and preparation of roads and  installation of internal engineering infrastructures. Overall, the construction of the External Economic Activities Service Center in Gyumri is estimated to cost around 2.2 billion drams (over $4.6 million).

Gyumri is situated about 120 kilometers to the northwest of capital Yerevan. It is  the administrative center of northwestern region of Shirak, bordering Georgia.  ($1 - 476.47 dram) -0-
