Drip irrigation is likely to become mandatory across Armenia, agriculture minister Ignaty Arakelyan said today, when addressing the Farmers’ Congress, initiated by the Armenian office of Oxfam in conjunction with the Agricultural Alliance of Armenia

YEREVAN, February 28. /ARKA/. Drip irrigation is likely to become mandatory across Armenia, agriculture minister Ignaty Arakelyan said today, when addressing the Farmers’ Congress, initiated by the Armenian office of Oxfam in conjunction with the Agricultural Alliance of Armenia
He said a corresponding program was under development now. In his words, the drip irrigation system will reduce water costs and improve the quality of the crops.
He added that calculations are now being made by experts to determine the amount of affordable loans for farmers for the introduction of drip irrigation.-0-
