YEREVAN, October 20. /ARKA/. The EU Aviation Security Agency (EASA) has declared Armenia's airspace safe and manageable, the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia reported on Tuesday.
It said after declaring martial law, the Civil Aviation Committee took measures to ensure the safety of the country's airspace for civil and humanitarian flights. The Committee published three NOTAMs (Notice to Flight Crew).
The first is a warning message, in which the Committee urges pilots to conduct additional risk assessments before flying during the ongoing hostilities on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The second NOTAM informs about the possible presence of unmanned aerial vehicles in the airspace of Armenia, while at the same time asking the crew to immediately provide information to air traffic controllers in the event of detecting any unknown aircraft.
By the third message, the Committee informs about certain restrictions on the air border of Armenia and Azerbaijan, some sections of which are closed for security reasons. The Committee also noted the high level of cooperation between the air traffic control authorities and the air defense forces.
EUROCONTROL - Air Navigation Safety Organization and EASA - European Aviation Security Agency expressed their confidence in the steps taken by the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia to fulfill the obligations and security measures.
“Considering the hostilities in the region, the Civil Aviation Committee took all measures to ensure the safety of the airspace of Armenia. Today is the International Day of Air Traffic Controllers and I congratulate them, emphasizing their high professionalism and dedication to ensuring flight safety,”said Tatevik Revazyan, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia.
She noted that in the most difficult days of the pandemic, the controllers voluntarily isolated themselves at work for several days, and during the war they continue their heroic work around the clock, doing invaluable work to preserve the safety of the Armenian airspace. -0-
