YEREVAN, December 26 /ARKA/. European low-cost airlines are ready to enter the Armenian market, Hripsime Grigoryan, the head of the Tourism Committee, an affiliation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, told journalists today. According to her, to that end a set of negotiations were held with a number of European low-cost airlines.
She said in all likelihood the low-cost airlines will operate flights to Armenia’s second-largest town of Gyumri. In hew words, one of the conditions for the low-cost airline to enter the local market is the government assistance, which can be expressed differently, for example, in helping promote their marketing policies.
"We must understand how we can increase our budget in order to approve a marketing program with low-cost airlines and ensure their entry into the Armenian market," Grigoryan said.
At the moment, only Russian low -cost airline Pobeda (a division of Aeroflot) is operating flights from Russia to Gyumri.-0-
