Exports of Armenian wines have surged in 2019, Armenian Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
YEREVAN, December 26. /ARKA/. Exports of Armenian wines have surged in 2019, Armenian Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan said during a government meeting on Thursday.
He said exports of Armenian brandy in the first 11 months grew by 27%. 'This is very important, since it is responsible for the development of the agricultural sector," Khachatryan said.
He said this trend is set to continue, especially given the fact that wine exports in the first 11 months increased by 50%. According to him, this growth is a new economic trend, being observed for the past two years.
“This year we have exported $24 million worth wines, which is 50% more than in 2018. This is very encouraging. Encouraging are also exports of fruit wines, which grew by 75%," Khachatryan said.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also described these figures as 'very encouraging', paying particular attention to the export of fruit wines, which showed the highest growth rate - 75% in the first 11 months.
"This area is interesting because it shows the emergence of a new brand. Fruit wines are not very common and the indicators show that they can arouse serious interest in the world and contain elements of Armenian know-how," Pashinyan said. –0—
