Farmers' market in Yerevan to move to near a trade center

YEREVAN, August 4. /ARKA/.A farmers' market in Yerevan that was on Kasyan Street, will move to near the Dalma trading center, Anna Ohanyan, press secretary of the Ministry of Economy said on her Facebook page.
Armenian farmers staged a protest action in front of the government building on July 30 after the municipality banned them from selling their goods in Kasyan Street. Farmers there were provided with free tents and scales to sell their products. However, residents of adjacent houses complained about noise and debris in the marketplace and the authorities closed it, offering farmers to sell their products at the Arabkir marketplace.
As noted by the press secretary, after a series of discussions between the ministry, the Yerevan City Hall and the head of the Arabkir administrative district, the farmers were offered an alternative option - to sell their produces on a free basis in the territory near the Dalma shopping center.
"To ensure the full operation of the new farmers' market, tables, tents, scales and other equipment in the amount of AMD 10 million will be provided free of charge, which along with other equipment previously provided free of charge by the Ministry, will allow to additionally equip farmers and stimulate their activity," Ohanyan said. -0-
