Financial education in Armenia should begin in school – expert
YEREVAN, November 7. /ARKA/. Schools should provide fundamental financial education to foster an understanding of money, banking, and investments, states Georgi Melkonyan, director of Freedom Academy Armenia.
"Every high school graduate, irrespective of their career path, should possess the ability to be a basic investor and at least have a foundational grasp of stocks and the factors that affect market price fluctuations," he remarked in an interview with ARKA news agency.
Simultaneously, he asserts that universities should deliver more comprehensive training.
"The primary issue in Armenian universities has been their focus on theoretical knowledge, while we strive to incorporate a practical element. We collaborate with numerous Armenian universities. You cannot fathom how students' faces light up when they discover that what they have learned is applicable," he stressed.
Melkonyan is convinced that this is a mutually beneficial endeavor.
"The Academy also gains significantly from this partnership, especially as it aids young individuals in achieving financial literacy. Investing in education is crucial, particularly considering the long-term nature of our objectives," he concluded.-0-
