FlyOne airlines denies media reports alleging it was sanctioned due to making flights to Russia

YEREVAN, August 27. /ARКА/. FLYONE Airlines has denied information on sanctions being imposed on it in Moldova due to flights to Russia.
In a statement it says: ‘On 22 August 2025 some media outlets distributed false information regarding alleged sanction application on FLYONE and its affiliated persons.
The information contains reference to the Service Intelligence Services of Moldova (SIS) Disposition nr. 53 of 21 August 2025, amending SIS Disposition nr. 2 of 25 January 2025.
The SIS Disposition nr. 2 of 25 January 2024 aims to implement the article 6 of Law nr. 25 of 04 March 2016, ref application of international restrictive measures (Law 25/2016).
The article 6 of Law nr. 25/2016 (see excerpt), SIS may develop a list of persons in respect to whom there is evidence that are associated with the subject of restrictions.
There are no restrictions or limitations to be applied in respect to the persons alleged to be associated with the subject of restrictions. The only practical implications are enhanced compliance measures in respect to transactions such as sale of goods, shares, payment of dividends to the benefit of the subject of restrictions.
However, the inclusion of FLYONE in the list of persons alleged to be associated with the subject of restrictions are groundless, with no evidence and constitute political prosecution in respect of FLYONE and its associates. Therefore, the SIS Disposition nr. 53 of 21 August 2025 was challenged in court and a criminal complaint was filed to General Prosecutor Office.
At the same time, we would like to inform you that the information published in the media, according to which the restrictions were allegedly imposed as a result of operating flights to the Russian Federation, is entirely unfounded and constitutes fake news, subsequently taken over by several press outlets.
The real reason behind this SIS decision is the establishment of a new political party, among the founders of which is also one of FLYONE’s co-founders. This fact generated dissatisfaction within the leadership of the Republic of Moldova and formed the basis for issuing the respective order.
We assure you that there is no reason for concern, and FLYONE continues its core activity under normal conditions.
It was previously reported that the Moldovan government has added FLYONE, the sole Moldovan airline that conducted flights to Russia through Armenia, to the sanctions list. It was indicated that not only FLYONE SRL itself but also significant individuals associated with the company have been included in the sanctions list.-0-
