Food Safety Inspection Service in Syunik suspends operations of soft drink plant and bakery

YEREVAN, August 17. /ARKA/. The Regional Center of the Food Safety Inspection Service in Armenia’s southeastern province of Syunik has ordered a soft drink plant and a bakery in the town of Meghri to suspend operations temporarily.
According to the regulator, the order follows inspections, which revealed a string of violations of the sanitary and hygienic standards.
In particular, production, utility and living quarters were not separated, the cleaning and disinfecting the walls of workshops was difficult to do, protection from contamination of equipment for cooking, and processing of food was not provided. In addition, there were no screens on the windows to keep out insects which could get into the products.
There was no changing room for the personnel of the soft drink plant, and there were no mandatory preventive and regular medical examinations. There were neither sinks with hot and cold water and the bathroom was in poor condition.
A deadline was set for both companies to eliminate the breaches. --0--
