Government discusses ways to improve cattle husbandry

Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan chaired a meeting today that was convened to discuss the state of animal husbandry in the country, the government said.
YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan chaired a meeting today that was convened to discuss the state of animal husbandry in the country, the government said. It said particular attention will be paid to the implementation of the artificial insemination of cattle. A relevant plan of actions will be effective until 2024.
According to the government, in 2018 some 20,000 heads of cattle will be inseminated artificially. As a result in terms of one head of cattle meat production will increase by 50 kg, while milk production growth will generate additionally 330 million drams in earnings.
The government said several other projects designed to boost cattle, sheep and pig breeding, as well poultry farming and livestock machinery acquiring are in the final stage of elaboration.
The meeting also touched upon such topics as substitution of imported dried milk by domestically produced one, subsidizing livestock farms, improving pasture conditions and other activities.
Karapetyan attached great importance to the implementation of the livestock development program, giving also orders to assess the effectiveness of existing livestock cooperatives and the possibility of bringing veterinary personnel to rural communities. ($ 1 - 480.27 drams). -0-
