YEREVAN, September 1. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia at a meeting on Thursday approved a program designed to subsidize loans that will be provided by local commercial banks for installment of antihail nets by farmers.
Agriculture minister Ignaty Arakelyan said loans, repayable in seven years, will be provided at 9% interest rate of which 7% will be subsidized by the government. He said the government will earmark 700 million drams for such subsidies in 2018. The money will be enough for installing anti-hail nets on 1,350 hectares.
The minister noted that antihail nets will not be very costly for farmers, especially given the possible damage they will incur during seven years, if the nets are not installed.
According to the ministry of agriculture, for vineyards, the cost of installing nets on 1 hectare will be up to 3.6 million drams, and for fruit gardens - up to 8 million drams.
A pilot program for the installment of antihail systems will be carried out in September in the Aragatsotn and Armavir regions of the country. ($ 1 - 478.44 drams). --0--
