YEREVAN, October 28. / ARKA /. Armenian economy minister Karen Chshmarityan proposed today that idle plants be used for the formation of industrial zones.
Speaking at a parliamentary Q&A session, the minister said the government is taking stock of all idle factories and plants to use their territories for attracting investment and formation of industrial zones.
According to him, the government will also take measures against companies that fail to respect their commitments and may go as far as take the plants back from them.
He said the reactivation of idle plants is more expensive than building new ones. According to him, many factories were profitable and effectively operated only under the Soviets, but now their products are not in demand. -0-
