YEREVAN, March 12. /ARKA/. The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies with the support of the European Union will establish a unique center for the development of education, cooking, economy and tourism in Gyumri.

The project calls for reconstruction of the old marketplace in Armenia’s second-largest city and creation of an international cooking school.

The EU will allocate 2.5 million euros for this project. The relevant agreement was signed by the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vasilis Maragos and the Director of the TUMO Center Marie Lou Papazian.

In cooperation with the prestigious French school Institut Lyfe (formerly Institut Paul Bocuse), 30 students will study annually at the future Gyumri International Culinary School.

The best of them will have an opportunity to intern at Institut Lyfe in Lyon, France, one of the best culinary schools in the world. Many of its graduates work in Michelin-starred restaurants.

Marketplace pavilions to be created under the project will allow local farmers and traders to work in a safe and hygienic environment. Restaurants, stores for arts and crafts, as well as educational activities, festivals, concerts and fairs will turn Gyumri into a tourist center for the region.-0-
